Sound of the Week Lesson for /sh/

Language Arts

The sound this week is the consonant team /sh/ as found at the beginning of shell and the end of fish.
Emphasize the /sh/ sound often throughout the day.  Have your child repeat the sound with you.

Put up your sound wall poster.

Handwriting Assignments:

Day 1:  Practice writing the letter "s" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 2:  Practice writing the letter "h" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 3:  Practice writing the consonant team "sh" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 4:  Practice writing the word "shell" one or two times.

Day 5:  Practice writing any of the other theme words one or two times.
 

Activities and/or Art Projects

Shell Art - Using any size of pasta shells (uncooked) have your child glue them to strong paper or cardboard in any design, then paint the shells for a final touch.

Ideas to try if you have read A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle

If you live in a location where you can collect shells, possibly take a trip to the beach to do so.
