Sound of the Week Lesson for /nd/

Language Arts

The sound this week is the blend - /nd/ at the end of band.
Emphasize the /nd/ sound often throughout the day.  Have your child repeat the sound with you.

Put up your sound wall poster.

The main theme for the week is:  Band  (marching bands)

Handwriting Assignments:

Day 1:  Practice writing the letter "n" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 2:  Practice writing the letter "d" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 3:  Practice writing the blend "nd" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 4:  Practice writing the word "band" one or two times.

Day 5:  Practice writing any of the other theme words one or two times.
 

Activities and/or Art Projects

Listen to Marching Band music by John Philip Sousa.  Liberty Bell March

While listening to the music by Sousa, draw on paper anything your mind imagines.

Use rhythm band instruments (sticks, bells, maracas, tamborines, toy drum, etc.) and march around the house.

Make some musical instruments to use in your rhythm band!
