Sound of the Week Lesson for /wh/

Language Arts

The sound this week is the consonant digraph /wh/ as found at the beginning of wheel and whale.
Emphasize the /wh/ sound often throughout the day.  Have your child repeat the sound with you.

Put up your sound wall poster.

Handwriting Assignments:

Day 1:  Practice writing the letter "w" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 2:  Practice writing the letter "h" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 3:  Practice writing the consonant digraph "wh" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 4:  Practice writing the word "whale" one or two times.

Day 5:  Practice writing any of the other theme words one or two times.
 

Activities and/or Art Projects

Find an audio cd recording of humpback whale songs and listen to the whales.

Whale Games and Videos

If possible... visit an aquarium/sea world, where you can see a whale show.
