Sound of the Week Lesson for /oo/

Language Arts

The sound this week is the short vowel combination /oo/ as in cook.
Emphasize the /oo/ sound often throughout the day.  Have your child repeat the sound with you.

Put up your sound wall poster.

Handwriting Assignments:

Day 1:  Practice writing the letter "o" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 2:  Practice writing the letter "o" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 3:  Practice writing the short vowel combination "oo" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 4:  Practice writing the word "book" one or two times.

Day 5:  Practice writing any of the other theme words one or two times.
 

Activities and/or Art Projects

Organize the books on your bookshelf.

Make a bookmark.

Go to the library and check out some books!

Make your own book of "oo" words.  Write the word at the top of each page then draw a picture to go with the word.  Make a cover and staple your book together.
