Indoor Games

Milk Carton City

This has been a favourite activity of our children for years!  Save cardboard milk cartons for this game.  You will want to wash out, cut off the tops, and then place two milk cartons together to form a block.  You can do this with various sizes of milk cartons.  Then when you have at least 20 milk carton blocks you will be able to build a city with them.  Toddlers will love to see a tall towers of milk carton blocks and run over to knock them down.

Suggestion:  Teach the sign for BLANKET.

Outdoor Games

(Depending on the season of the year you can rearrange these suggestions to work for you -- see the outdoor games link above.)

Jump Rope Exploration -- continue with ideas from last lesson.  You could also tie jump ropes between two pillars or chairs outside.  Please remove when you are done to prevent injury!  Help your toddler crawl under the rope at different heights.  Just like doing the limbo!

Musical Exploration

Follow the Leader

Play follow the leader to music.  You can be the leader and your toddler will follow.  Move fast, move slow, turn around, or any creative movement of your choice to music.  This is also a time to review all the previous lessons.  You can get out any rhythm instruments you have used, play familiar songs, etc.  Lead out on the activity and have your toddler follow you.  Keep it fun and stop before your toddler wants to.
